Google Business Profile Chat and Call History is No Longer Available
Posted By Gaurav | 27-Jul-2024 | Search Engine OptimizationStarting from July 31, 2024, Google has removed the call and chat history feature from Business profiles. The option to initiate a chat with customers was removed on July 15, 2024. Following this, the chat and call history option has been completely disabled by Google now. It means businesses will no longer be able to access their chat and call history data.
Although the option to initiate a chat has been removed, customers can still find business contact information on Google Search and Maps. Businesses can still receive calls from their GMB profiles. Also, features to track engagement metrics like website traffic and direction requests are still there.
All the information you provide on your business profile like the website link, description, etc, will be accessible to the users. They can learn more about a particular business by visiting its website, viewing photos, or accessing any other information provided in the GMB description.
What to Do Now?
As Google had announced this change earlier and suggested businesses download their chat and call history data before July 31, you might have already done it. If not, you can still download your GMB profile chat or call history from Google Takeout. Keep in mind that the option to download history data is only available till August 30, 2024. If the call and chat history feature is important to your business, make sure to download this data before it completely vanishes.
If you have any existing or pending conversations with your customers, Google recommends businesses try switching to other chat channels if possible.
